The Sustainable Venture Prize, part of Startup Yale, awards $25,000 to a promising student business venture that advances environmental sustainability.

Entrepreneurs and innovators have an increasingly critical role in helping to slow down, and maybe even reverse, the effects of climate change. This seed funding program is an important step in unlocking this potential and fulfilling Yale’s commitment to building a more sustainable world. Up to five seed-stage grants of $500 - $3,000 will be awarded.

The Yale Center for Business and the Environment brings you a series of hands-on workshops for current or aspiring environmental changemakers. The purpose of these workshops is to equip students with practical skills to build sustainable and impactful projects, challenge existing paradigms to inspire ideas for new projects, and connect students to internal Yale sources that can help propel their ideas forward. 

Yale College is home to a wide range of student organizations, including many related to entrepreneurship and innovation.

At the intersection of business and the environment, CBEY supports students interested in the creation of new nonprofit and commercial organizations, business models, or other innovations that address pressing environmental challenges. CBEY staff are available for office hours or 1-1 coaching sessions on your venture, innovative idea, career path and beyond.

Through the Sobotka Research Fund, these grants provide seed funding for start-up ventures in the field of business and the environment. The goal of the funding is to support student and faculty in creating competitive commercial enterprises that market viable products, services, and projects with environmental benefits to society. Seed stage venture grants are for student and faculty ventures from departments across Yale University. Up to two seed stage venture grants of $10,000 each will be awarded. 

GreenLight hosts a series of ideation workshops with leaders of organizations at the intersection of business and the environment. Ideation workshops are highly interactive, fast-paced sessions designed to generate new and innovative solutions to complex challenges. Businesses come to us with some of the gnarliest challenges they’re facing, and we facilitate half-day generative design sprints with students all across Yale to provide fresh thinking and multidisciplinary point of views on those issues.

Yale offers four entrepreneurship prizes, ranging from $15,000 to $25,000, which share a single application and are open to all Yale students. These prizes are designed to generate world-changing ideas around health, education, environment, equality, sustainability, and technology.
